1949 Indian Arrow Vertical Engine
Our Indian friend "M" from Temecula, CA, United States made available these photos of this great 1949 Indian Arrow which has a vertical single cylinder 220cc Indian engine.
M: "This is a 1949 Indian Arrow that is completely original and unrestored. It was in a Museum in Saint Louis for over 30 years and before that it was owned by a relative of Walt Disney by the name of John Daniel Disney. "
"The only thing not original is the bags. It has the original air cleaner with combination choke which is very hard to find. It also has the original handle bars and carb."
M: "I won second place at Hanford, CA, for unrestored class."
Close up of the Indian vertical one cylinder engine which has a modest 220cc displacement.
It is interesting to compare this engine with the 440cc two cylinder engine of the
1949 Indian Scout 249.
Here's a view of the Indian vertical engine from the left side.
Those saddlebags and the concrete floor are the only things you see that are not original Indian on this photograph.
Actually, this 1949 Indian Arrow classic motorcycle is currently for sale.
