1941 Indian Scout Bobber
Rick from Port Dover, ON, Canada made available these photos of his 1941 Indian Scout Bobber which has a 640cc type 741 Indian Flathead engine and which has the classic black, chrome and polished aluminium paint scheme.
Rick: "Here is a 1941 Indian 741 Scout Bobber from Ontario, Canada. This bike was built mostly by myself a couple years ago. Originally a 500cc, 30.50 cubic inch Flathead engine it has been bored to 640cc or 40 cubic inch using Bonneville Sport Scout Pistons so will perform faster than most 741 Scouts. I have been over 70mph and I am not a small person."
"I was standing in Grog's shop one day when we got a call from Eddie. He was at a meet in the USA, and wondered if we wanted a substantially incomplete 741 Indian basket case. The price was right so we couldn't refuse and decided to split on the package. Somehow I wound up with the drive train and had to build up from there."
"Along the way I created some patterns and had them cast up at a local foundry to add "jewelry" to the project."
Rick: "Wheels are modern with a disc brake up front so you can stop but are still over 35 years old as per AMCA Specs. It was built with a right hand throttle and left hand shifter."
Rick: "The engine came with the rear cylinder fit to a Bonneville Sport Scout piston but the front cylinder was NOS. Luckily we found another Bonneville piston in Grog's piston pile, so I was on my way. Between scrounging on eBay, the internet, swap meets, my spares pile, and bits my brother left at my place, this is what I came up with."
