1939 Indian Four 4 Cylinder Bike
Steve from Smithtown, NY, United States, made available these photos of this fantastic 1939 Indian Four 4 Cylinder motorbike. Almost 70 years old, this un-restored classic Indian motorcycle is powered by the legendary Indian 4-cylinder in-line engine and with her 35,000 miles she is still in running condition.
Steve: "This Indian motorcycle is finished in the original Cream & White Indian colors, and the pinstripes are hand-painted just as they were at the factory. It runs as good as it looks. The engine starts very easily, and the bike rides perfectly."
This 70 years old and fully restored classic Indian motorcycle is powered by the legendary
Indian 4-cylinder 1265cc in-line engine.
An important aspect of this Indian motorcycle restoration project is the really professional paint job.
Great artwork, and beautiful handpainted pinstriping. Look at those curves!
Indian Motorcycle Tank Shift
The Indian Four has left hand tank shift.
Indian Motorcycle Springer Fork
Typical Indian leaf spring front fork suspension.
The Indian springer fork design has a trailing front wheel axle.
The typical coil springer fork mechanism like on Harley Davidson motorcycles has the front wheel axle in front.
Indian Motorcycle Sprung Saddle
With the hardtail frame providing no comfort at the rear, the Indian Motocycle Manufacturing Company made sure the saddle was sprung to the max.
(You'd guess those square rubber blocks will only see action when you hit the deepest of potholes...)
